There are so many ways you can use this meat sauce, but one of my favorites is over spaghetti.
Ingredients
* 4 slices salt pork * 1 lg. onion, chopped * 1 carrot * 2 celery stalks * 1/4 C. butter * 1 lb. lean beef, cut into slices * 1/4 tsp. salt * 1/8 tsp. pepper * 3 cloves * 4 C. cold water * 4 bouillon cubes, dissolved in 1 1/4 qts. water
Directions
Place salt pork in a large saucepan, add onion, carrot, celery, butter, slices of beef, salt, pepper and cloves. Cook over medium heat until meat is well-browned. Add 1 C. cold water and continue cooking until water is absorbed. Add water like this 3 more times. When water finally all evaporates, adding water containing cubes. Cover and simmer for 5 hours. Strain and cool.
Yields 3 C. sauce.
